Service · Guttering and downpipes
Salt-driven silt from the east, chalk dust off the cliffs, and leaf load from the mature street trees on the West Cliff and around St Lawrence. Untouched Ramsgate guttering fills up in two seasons. Cleared properly it lasts twenty years.
Salt corrosion. Any galv or steel bracket within a mile of the seafront corrodes at the coach-screw point in about ten years. We swap to stainless A2 as standard when we're up there anyway - a fifty-pence part that stops the whole run pulling off the fascia in twenty.
Seagull nesting. Herring gulls nest on Ramsgate rooftops from March through July. Post-fledge in August is a classic gutter callout - the nest material has dropped straight into the run. We check for active nests before we start and don't disturb protected sites.
West Cliff chestnut leaf. The mature horse chestnuts on Truro Road and around the Grange fill guttering with leaf mould faster than sycamore or plane. A November clear is worth booking as a standing appointment on those streets.
A two-storey terrace clear takes half a day. A large detached with three-run guttering takes a full day. We ladder-work up to two storeys as standard - taller than that goes to a scaffolder.
£80 to £150 for a two-storey gutter clear. £160 to £220 for large or three-run properties. Section replacement £60 to £120 per metre depending on gutter profile. Photos of the clear included.
